Pergamon


Pergamon (or Pergamum) was an ancient Greek city in modern-day Turkey, located 16 miles (26 km) from the Aegean Sea that became the capital of the Kingdom of Pergamon during the Hellenistic period, under the Attalid dynasty, 281–133 BC. Pergamon is cited in the book of Revelation as one of the seven churches of Asia.

The following is a picture o fhe frieze of the Pergamon Altar which was "recovered" between 1878 and 1886 and now resides in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin.
