Athena and Arachne

Arachne was an amazing weaver, widely known in all of Greece for her ability. Of course, Arachne wasn’t humble about it. She liked to think of herself the best weaver of them all. Even better than the goddess Athena, the master weaver.
All the gods in every mythology are huge egomaniacs, and Athena wasn’t an exception. When she heard what Arachne had said, she disguised herself as an old woman and went up to Arachne, telling her she should be respectful to the gods. Arachne laughed her off, telling her if she could, she’d challenge Athena to a weaving contest. Enraged, Athena took her disguise off and formally told her that she excepted.
When they began the contest, Athena weaved herself when she was in the contest with Poseidon for the city of Athens. Arachne, however, weaved pictures showing the gods in true, but still imperfect situations. Arachne’s weaving was flawless, but Athena was still pretty angry about Arachne’s depictions and probably secretly jealous (in my opinion) with her talent, that she turned her into a spider. Forever weaving.
