Danaё

Another example of horrible Greek mythology fathers was the King of Argos, Acrisius. He had found out that his daughter, Danaё would have a son that would end up killing him. So, being the amazing parent that he is (not), he locks up Danaё.

Zeus, the king god, sees her and transforming himself into a golden rain, and gets into the place she was locked up. As Zeus always does, he knocks her up and she ends up giving birth to Perseus.
Acrisius finds out about this and is obviously unhappy. So, using an alternative, he puts his daughter and his newborn grandson into a crest and throws them out into the ocean. How nice.
But Zeus, who was actually looking about his son and the woman he knocked up for once, talked to his brother Poseidon, the god of the sea, and made sure the washed up to safey on the island of Seriphos.
